Women in Aviation | Bigger and Better Servers!

Hello everyone,

Been a long time but just wanted to update you on a few items that are coming up.

First and foremost is Women in Aviation week is back!  The events started yesterday and will continue through the week.  Be sure to stop by the Women In aviation talk show tomorrow and if you booked a flight for Saturday please show up on time or early as we are right booked for that day!  Maureen, Sharyn and Alex have all put a lot of time and energy into making this a week to remember!

Now for some wore techie talk…

In case you were not aware the Dream Host servers that I am hosted on are rapidly dieing and it has been causing some intermittent issues with slow pages and bounced emails.  This has accelerated some of my longer term plans but I am happy to announce that we will be moving to a new server!!!  This will ensure that everyone can get any blog page they are looking for right quick.  This also means that I can stop ripping my hair out due to missed emails.  The server is in the works but we should have her up and running in the nearish future.

In closing I hope to see you all out at the airport on Saturday and have a great week.

Until next time

Good Morning World – Did You Go To Aviation Fun Day?

Hello Everyone,

So I just wanted to let everyone know I’m not dead…

Needles to say it has been a busy few weeks with work and family and school.  I tell you that there is always something to do!

So this past weekend was the Aviation Fun Day at the Waterloo Airport and I must say it was spectacular!  For anybody who did not go this year no worries but we hope to see you our next year.

My job, well jobs, at the event were making Airplanes with the kids (and making sure they did not get flow toward the slightly larger “real” planes).  The second item of business on my plat for the day was “Harvards Security”.  Yep that’s right,  I was protecting the WWII trainer aircraft from the mobs of amazing visitors.  Sadly I was so busy securing I didn’t get to take a closer look.

But now to the thing you actually want to know.  Did I take pictures?  Heck Ya!

So without further rambling here we are….

Sorry Folks
Due To Hosting Limitations Older Photos Have Been Removed :O

I would just like to say thank you to everyone who make this possible.  And an extra thanks to Maureen the event coordinator at WWFC, she always does an amazing job.

For anyone who is able, BBBS of Waterloo are in need of more Big Brothers but will also welcome anyone willing to be a Big Sister too!

Young Eagles Flight – Looking For Photographers

Hey everyone,

I hope everyone had a great time at the Air Show last weekend.  Sadly I could not make it due to working some extra shifts.  But it will all work out for the best in the end.

So what I am hear to tell you about and maybe get some volunteers out of the deal is the COPA Young Eagles Flight on June 15.  Based on how the Fly it Forward with Flair day went this is bound to be another amazing event.

I have been in contact with Sharon (She was the volunteer coordinator for FFWF and did an amazing job at that) and it looks like they are short on photographers or even just people with cameras for this coming event and i have been asked to put the word out.

So here it is:

Calling all photographers(or people with cameras) We are looking for some people to take keepsake photos at the Young Eagles event taking place on June 15 2013 at Waterloo Airport.  You don’t need to be a pro photographer just someone willing to help(and has a camera).

As for equipment you will need(This is based off what was needed last time and not the actual list)

  1. A camera capable of about 35mm true focal length (This includes most point and shoot as well as kit lenses if you use a SLR)
  2. SD cards – 3 minimum (If you don’t have any still volunteer and we can see what we can do)
  3. Batteries for a whole day of shooting
  4. as tacky as it sounds a nice welcoming personality

Here is a snip-it from Sharyn’s email as well as some contact information:

“Hi Christopher

We’re just in the process of organizing our volunteers into their specific
groups (we are running it slightly differently from the way YKF Fly It
Forward was ran). The general gist of it will still be the same, with
volunteers arriving between 7:30am-8am that morning to set up for our first
batch of kids at 8:30am. The event is scheduled to end at 3:30pm, so we
should be good by 4:30pm I believe.

Do you by chance know of any other photographers who may be interested in
this event?? We would like to have 2 more photographers and 1 person
(doesn’t have to be a photographer) to assist Fred at the table. If you
do, please direct them to the volunteer sign up at and specify
“Photography” for area of interest. The next person in touch with you will
likely be either Ron Martens or Fred Trautrim (make sure their e-mails
don’t land in your spam account!!).

If you have any other concerns, please don’t hesitate to let us know.”

You can get in contact with Sharyn at “[email protected]

Hope to see you all there.
